acetaldehyde phenylhydrazone

According to a number of chemistry books acetaldehyde phenylhydrazone can't be converted into indole by the Fisher method.  I found this patent that converts this starting material into indole using a high temperature catalytic process (aluminium oxide at 320-330 degrees C).  The patent number is 3,790,596.
