Hi!

For various reasons this bee would like a small quantity of benzodioxole(100 g or so). Is this a particularly suspicious material to order within Europe?

And I quote from the List of substances frequently used in the manufacture of Illicit drugs.

3,4-Methylenedioxyphenyl

This would imply that anything with a methylenedioxy bridge attached to a benzene ring is considered to be suspicious. I would not place an order for that if I were you!!

Rhodium

I't so easy to reflux catechol in a two-phase reaction with aqueous sodium carbonate and DCM together with a PTC so that aquiring ready-made benzodioxole is unnecessary.

I second Rhodium. You really have to do an effort to get less than 70% yield with DCM or DBM and catechol  :) .

Thanks guys!

I just had some crazy idea that DBM had to be used to get any yields with that method. That stuff is quite expensive :-)

I think i'll take your advice  8)

In Germany all 3,4-methylendioxy compounds are monitored, also 1,2-methylendioxybenzene
