SWIM has found a source for GBL, unfortunately the purity is probably sub par (+/- 99.2%) and the product may contain other chemicals. What can she do to purify the GBL? Would a steam distillation work?

I would suggest a vacuum distillation, where you discard the first and last 10%, alternatively a regular distillation, doing the same thing.
