The conversion of P2Pol to P2P is an oxidation, not a reduction. In addition I suggest you type the following line to TFSE:

acetaldehyde and ("benzyl chloride" or "benzyl bromide")

You will see that this is not a new idea and that it doesn't work so well as could be anticipated. This is the case with most methods that one can think of so UTFSE before posting, even if you have ADD.

Did you know there is a synthesis of acetaldehyde aka ethanal on Rhodium archive? Yes, it is an useful site indeed!

I find that most syn.on the site, as you decribed to be very flawed, and  barely work.(Even though most come from vogel practial chemistry book. I do however find most syn. found from schools, and University  to work most of the time.  By the way I meant oxidation.  The reason for this is because they do the same syn. year after year, and correct any mistakes on the way.  Have you ever went to a university?  ADDkid
