LWR Equipment Question
« on: October 27, 2004, 03:01:00 PM »
Would it be a totally stupid idea to attempt a small LWR say 7-10 grams with 4' of braided PVC hose and a balloon?  Waiting for condensor to arrive but swit_c is very anxious to try out a long one.  Have been performing short dry hot rxn's and want to try the long wet.  Have noticed that during the shorter rxn's that the HI drips back down into flask pretty steadily from hose.  The 4' of hose is looped once.  Maybe a doubled or tripled balloon and a 24-36 hour 100-120 degree Celsius reflux or is the condensor going to be mandatory in this application?

There are many post here on geto condensers that can be fabricated easily for one time use or multiple uses.. UTFSE on this one. You will be surprised at the ingenious minds of bees in this field.

Swim dreamed he was at a sick relatives house without a condenser and in doing the LWR the punchball never inflated.
Not even a little! The gas condensated in the braided hose
which there was 3-4 feet of it in length.Don't bother looping it.
