Swim's buddy uses a 5gal bucket so 25liter sounds about right.

The water wont heat up enough to matter.

Wherever you put it it should still have decent ventilation (at least an open window and adjacent fan) just in case a leak sprouts.

Be careful to not use too little water or you may have an RP stalagmite cemented to the bottom of your flask and all your iodine will be up in your baloon and condenser by the end of the 48hrs.

If possible try to at least check on it and maybe add a little water at the 24hr point.

Can the reaction flask be to big? Will a rxn in the size 20-30g E fit a 2l. flask?

You could easily do a QP batch (quarter pounder) with that 2 liter flask. It'll work OK but that's way excess "headroom" for that rxn size and a lot of valuable residues will be sticking to that flask. Clean it out real good when filtering out the phos after the reaction or your yeild will suffer.

Use a 500 or a 1000 instead if you've got 'em.
