So it seems the best way to stabilize benzyl chloride would be to store it over sodium carbonate or bicarbonate solution in a dark jar. That would scrub up any acids, while still being not a good nucleophile.

Benzyl chloride is so useful! I hope we can come up with an optimized tech to deal with it.
