LSD
« on: August 28, 2001, 12:19:00 AM »
I was reading this file about LSD www.rhodium.ws/chemistry/et2lsd.txt
Nice piece of text if you known what HBTU or HATU, HOBt or BOP or HOSu is. Than it would be more understandable.
When its more understandable its easier to win the war. So i'm asking what chemicals these are and what do I suppose to do with them?

The compounds in questions are peptide coupling reagents (compounds which facilitates the reaction between an amine and a carboxylic acid to form and amide, such as Lysergic Acid Diethylamide). More information about them are easily obtainable by searching for them at

HBTU = 2-(1H-benzo-triazole-1-yl)-1,1,3,3-tetramethyluronium
HOBt = N-hydroxybenzotriazole
HOSu = H-Hydroxysuccinimide
BOP  = Benzotriazolyl N-oxytrisdimethylaminophosphonium hexafluorophosphate
DCC = Dicylohexylcarbodiimide

Still have a question (shame on me)
There were two HBTU s. This one:
2-(1H-benzo-triazol-1-yl)-1,1,3,3-tetramethyluronium Hexafluorophosphate

And this one

O-(1H-benzotriazole-1-yl)-N,N,N,n-tetramethyluronium Hexafluorophosphate.

Are these the same?

You can get plenty of DCC and HOSu for cheap!

These peptide synths look pretty do-able.  Does anybody know if it works?

They work for all other kinds of amide syntheses, so I cannot see why they wouldn't work with LSD.

Nice Find!!!
Yes Albany Molecular has some fun stuff to browse thru.  I have spent hours there.

Rhodium, this might make your page?
