Have a bottle of these lying around and didn't know if they could be converted to I2 or not, UTFSE and came up with nothing, they are the little pill looking iodine water purification tablets hikers and such use on to purify water obviously.

Worlock used to say these worked great (albeit on the expensive side comparitive to other sources) but I never tried them myself.

Check Worlocks pages at Rhodiums.

they still appear frequently at auction sites

If you are going to spend this much money for I2 then buy the stuff that comes in the small brown bottle that would be right next to these tabs if you can. This works great and is exactly what you are looking for.

You may find 99.9% iodine crystals for water purification at ye olde camp store. They can be used as is. They are slowly being phased out by newer purification systems but supplies still exist.
