serotonin and psilocybin
« on: January 30, 2004, 06:11:00 AM »
i was wondering if anyone has ever ventured to taste the non-dimethyl amine equivalent of psilocybin.
Serotonin is 5-OH tryptamine;
Psilocybin is 4-phosphoryloxy- dimethyl tryptamine, or 4-OH-DMT when hydrolysed;
Has anyone been lucky enough to come across 4-OH tryptamine?

like the OH (that is, dephosphorylated) version of nor-baeocystin ?

nor-baeocystin is 4-phosphoryloxy-DMT, which gives 4-OH-DMT when hydrolysed. (Baeocystin is the ethyl-methyl counterpart).

Sorry but that is just all wrong! Baeocystin is nor-psylocibin meaning it has one N-methyl group less than psylocibin. Therefore, nor-baeocystin has even one N-methyl less and is 4-phosphoryloxy-triptamine.
4-phosphoryloxy-DMT = psylocibin (is not nor-baeocystin)
4-OH-DMT = psilocin

OOPS. Now I've done it.

Yep, that's wrong (duh) Bad data. (comtemplates eating hat)

MMfff. Sorry about that. Thankyou for your clarification.
