forget about that product...somebody needs to seriously examine NaOH plus KCl as an alternative to KOH, and the other possible route using water extraction followed by dilute sulfuric acid boil to break the polymers. I have a bad feeling about the latter one...

hydroponics stores have KOH solution, sold as potassium hydroxide solution.

KOH + HCl will get you your KCl, just get it to neutral or slightly basic.

KCl is off the shelf. Somebody has told me that the Walmart store brand red hots are also of the filter plugging, suspended shit variety in spite of their seemingly simple box statement of ingredients. Another avenue for investigation...
