« on: July 30, 2003, 12:22:00 AM »
i have a solution with amidone, or methadone hcl in it and i would like to remove extract the methadone for use. the simplest method i can think of would be an acid/ base extraction using sodiun hydroxide as a base to liberate the methadone from its salt form and extract the freebase methadone with a solvent di ethyl ether i think would work i was looking at the synth. on Rhodiun's page and it states that ether is used in the removal of freebase methadone what kind of ether petroleum ether?

please respond ASAP
thank you in advance

is ethyl ether. Be very careful when using this stuff it is very flamable, the vapors hug the ground, use a fume hood or at least good ventilation with an explosion proof fan.
