Could be unclean E

The only other concievable problem is that there was an excess of dh2o that diluted the HI concentration for the larger majority of the rxn.
Sounds like a sample was taken from the rxn and the baby is still cooking.
Pour off all dh2o(Every bit and save to recover pseudo)
Recap and cook dry @ 140°C for 2hours.
Ibee's done this 100 times to the percentage sample rxns to determine degree's of doneness/resulting potency test runs.

One ml h2o was added as you suspect! It was bone dry.Baby is still cooking 72hrs now. Will try to drain h2o from flask, not with a filter... but Swimm don't know how you do it.So we will decant h2o off sol and fire at 160c oil bath temp as that should be the right temp.Ws going to add more rp and I2 but since your post wil wait till the 2hrs is up and check for that smell.!the smell will be different as Swimm has had his nose in the rp,I2 flask every-day for 3weeks!Meth-god please!

It's not necessary but if the precursors are on hand and clean...adding .5g of both won't hurt but expect to cook @ that temp for an extra 3-4 hours to ensure conversion.
When decanting the liquid, most of the reactants will stay together on the bottom and the side as pouring. Just don't pour any off.

Some gakks will encapsulate or coat the E, this can destroy conversion. Its all about surface area and contact with HI.

Swim has gotten back plenty of E as the end result when reusing MBRP that was not cleaned well enough from the previous rxn. Or if E was gakked AND the reused MBRP was insufficient in ratio.

There should not bee any white specks.

Either your E is gakked or you are reusing MBRP from a previous rxn and it has become coated.  :(
