if one were to reductivaly animate via osium/brightstar method but did not want to gas would this be an alternate method
 
after mix is basified extract with 3x300ml toulene then acidify and extract with DH20 seperate the H2O and basify thus dropping freebase out of solution crystalize freebase by any method you want

is this correct or is SWIM an idiot (granted they are not mutually exclusive)

cause mdma freebase mdma is an oil... thats why its converted to the hcl salt... perhaps im missreading your question.

hcl gas is easy.. assuming you have some h2so4 ... you can use aqueous hcl... but mdma.hcl is soluable in aq solns so it wont fall out... you could try acidifying with hcl(aq) .. then seperating the aq layer (which will contain much of the goodies) .. then concentrate that and add lots of acetone... i supose that could work...but your yield will be poor...

And it is aminate not animate. This is the second thread where you have pervasively made this error. You should get out a piece of paper and write aminate a thousand times.

yes swim doesnt spell worth a shit, SWIM wants to isolate freebase so was thinking doing an acid base getting the amine we know and love into water then basifying to drop out freebase oil then crystallizing by whatever means one wants to

Basify and extract the MDMA base with DCM.  Repeat al/hg a/b washes many times and collect all MDMA base in DCM.

Then distill off the DCM and vacuum distill the MDMA base.  The increase in quality of the end product is well worth the effort.

Then crystallise by your method of choice.  I used to simply dissolve the distilled freebase in acetone and gas in that, works very well, but its up to you.
