Title: reduction of isonicotinic acid
Post by: SilverSurfer on December 05, 2003, 09:32:00 AM
Reffering to demerol synth

Why isnt the reduction of the isonicotinicacid step one,
instead reducing it before methylating

Is there recently a more practically way of reducing it?

N-Alkyl-pyridinium salts are more easily reduced than the plain pyridines.
