Title: phenylalanine polypeptides
Post by: Lem2 on March 05, 2002, 11:15:00 PM
hrmm... I though of an interesting idea the other day, but I don't have the resources at present to look it up.

what would be that product of a catalytic hydrogenation of a polypeptide composed completely of phenylalanine? would it break the N-(CO) bond? if it did, would it be any easyer to break off that last oxygen? or would that last oxygen be reduced off along w/ the breaking of the bond?

He who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man.

You will get poly(hexahydro-phenylalanine)  :)
