5-HTP --> 5-AcO-T?
« on: November 25, 2002, 09:25:00 AM »
From usenet:

"with dosages of upto 3grams of 5-acetoxy-tryptophan
(acetic acid reacted with 5-htp) interesting deleriant type effects occur"

2 questions:

1. Is this a valid synth? The guy refers somewhat vaguely to simply mixing his 5-HTP with household vinegar and getting 5-Acetoxy-Tryptophan.

2. 3 grams is a lot. Would one also get deleriant effects with 3 grams of straight 5-HTP, or is there reason to believe that doing this conversion would change the nature of the experience.

Sorry.... it's probably a stupid question but if anyone is nice enough to give an answer to this humble wannaBEE that would be appreciated.

deleriant effects

Well the guy posting on Usenet said the visuals were pretty good, with a bit of a scopolamine like feeling... I'm not sure if he knew the difference between deleriants and hallucinogens. I can't see how a compound with this structure would be a true deleriant anyhow. I just want to know if the synth is viable... I will then research it Shulgin style and report back to ya'll.

...maybe interesting but certainly not desirable...

1) Everything Posted On Usenet Is True.

2) As everyone can see on erowid, scopolamine is not exactly a fun drug.

3) High dosages of 2ct7 are also deleriant. And also, not very much fun; not for you, and not for the paramedics. Look up a few high dosage 2ct7 reports to find out more.

Of course, you don't need to be deterred by this from synthing & trying this compound.

bad joke

Sounds like a bad joke. The 5-O-acetyl group will be hydrolyzed in seconds by serum esterases. The only possible effect could be an enhanced brain penetration as the more lipophilic acetylated compound, but 5-hydroxy-tryptophan doesn't really have problems to enterthe brain because it is actively transported into the brain afaik.

I have been in email contact with the guy, and he seems to be for real... he is claiming effects on the order of being sucked into a black hole with 100mg of the stuff... Unless this is another "bananadine"... I've decided to do the research and see what happens.

I now have a procedure...

Dissolve an amount of 5-HTP in a molar excess of Acetic Acid.

Leave it to sit for 3-4 weeks.

Evaporate and consume.

We will see... it's worth a shot as it's even easier than making GHB from GBL.

Oh, and he is suggesting that the acetylation may be occuring somewhere else as well as at the 5-position... he suggests trying it with acetic anhydride as well and comparing the products.

So? if you look up the effects of a massive 5htp ...

So? if you look up the effects of a massive 5htp dose, you'll also find 'delerium'.

This doesn't work

Hehe, let it sit with acetic acid... Forget it! This doesn't work.
