Help to make 1,5-dibromopentane (Method). for PCP

magnesium organometallicderivative of 1,5-dibromopentane
gives PCP. The only difficulty in this route is the preparation of
the dibromopentane Grignard reagent,
Reaction of N-benzoylpiperidine with the lithium or magnesium
organometallic derivative of 1,5-dibromopentane gives PCP. The only difficulty in this route
is the preparation of the dibromopentane Grignard reagent, with its strict requirement for
anhydrous conditions (Method ????).

Ring opening of tetrahydropyran with HBr, or bromination of 1,5-pentanediol with HBr (or red P + Br2).

Check out www.orgsyn.org - there should be several ether and alcohol brominations in Organic Synthesis.
