What would be an appropriate solvent for the synthesis of hydrobromic acid via sodium bromide and concentrated sulfuric acid, aside from H20 and DMSO?
I believe alcohols are inappropriate, do to the formation of alkyl bromides.
Ethers don't hold very concentrated acids well either, I don't believe, ideally the solvent could reach concentrations upwards of 60%t.
Is it possible to run this reaction in haloform solvents?
