substituted alpha chloralose derivatives???
« on: August 28, 2004, 03:54:00 AM »
Unfortunately I haven't access to my lab at the moment, so I have been confined pretty much to both OTC reagents and those requiring no glassware, I just had a thought on alpha chloralose, made by condensing glucose with chloral hydrate, I UTFSE and found scarce reference even to alpha chloralose.

Is there any room to maneuver while working with alpha chloralose? is it possible maybee to add on alkyl side chains, or work with other precursors such as the irritating bromal hydrate, or maybe the iodine analogue?
I'm too wary about fluorine analogues of anything, as the fluoride ion is just plain unpleasant to have around ;)
