more grignard questions

Alright, I've been reading over a few grignard reactions, and the one that I always seem to drift back to is the Benzyl magnesium chloride+acetonitrile-->P2P(or direct reduction to amphetamine)

Does anyone have difinitive, first hand experience with this reaction?  I read that it is prone to forming diphenylethane(I think), which lowers yeilds.  But I haven't seen anyone talk about actually performing the synth.  On Rhod's site, there are two experimentals, one which gives yields of 42g of P2P from 127g of benzyl chloride, which is shitty.  The other gave yeilds of 75-80%.  That's a bit of a difference.  So has anyone actually tried this?
