swim starts with 3g of pure sparkling needles of E. then he did the cold reaction with KMnO4. After separation (12h) the solution was filtered with activated carbon and received a clear liquid (800ml).
then evaped the whole shebang down to dryness, received a dark yellow mass without crytals. o.k. then swim washed this first with EtOH and then with Acetone. the residue was white (o.k. so far ?)
then he combined the (yellow) EtOH and Acetone and after 10 h. there are some yellow crystals in the liquid.
this few crystals are washed again, till they are white. the washing liquid was again yellow and discard.
is this now methcat with some byproducts or is this all shit?
now swim has a white something and he dreams a dream of recrystallize this shit. has someone done this and in which solvent?
