For 2C-I.HCl Shulgin reccommends "Recrystallization from 2 weights of H2O, filtering, washing first with IPA and then with Et2O, and air drying, gave 2,5-dimethoxy-4-iodophenethylamine hydrochloride (2C-I) as a white microcrystalline solid, with a mp of 246-247°C".
To me, using water as recrystallization solvent seems potentially wasteful. I'd guess that an isopropanol/ether mixture would work very well and give better yields for both 2C-H and 2C-I hydrochlorides. Dunno what would work best for recrystallization of 2C-I.HI - many amine HI salts have very peculiar solubilities, and besides they are unstable to light, so I wouldn't reccommend storing the salt.
