Title: Benzaldehyd, Xanthane and Water
Post by: wimpy on June 16, 2004, 10:59:00 AM
Sorry if this is already around here somewere, i couldn't find anything:

Does anyone maybe know if it's possible to get the Benzaldehyd out of a solution of Benzaldehyd, Xanthan and Water? And would it be worth the while?

Thanks!

ps.: already searched at google, too, but all i found out is that xanthane is more soluble in water than benzaldehyd ...

hm, just found out that NaCl destroyes the Structure of Xanthane. I'll tell SWIM, i guess the Benzaldehyde is anyway of no worth for him in that form, so it might be worth a try

xanthan gum is a polymer. I guess you could try evaporating the water. Benzaldehyde is a liquid, I think you could pour or filter it off. Depending, of course, on the amounts of each present in the mixture.
