Al amalgam using HgSO4

I can't get any other Hg salt than HgSO₄. Can I use this one for amalgamation or not? ThanksGive me some chemicals and I'll give you pleasure.

No, it obviously cant be used, because if it could, you wouldnt have to turn it into HgCl2 for a proper amalgam.

The advantage of HgCl2 is its higher solubility resulting in a faster amalgamation.  The sulfate will probably take a long time to amalgamate.
