Trying again; What is this???
« on: September 22, 2002, 01:48:00 AM »
These pics are the best out of the lot, the no flash is a better veiw of the inside, the other is the "shell" and a cassette case for size perspective.

The item has both a "straight thru" passage as well as a coil passage of 3 turns btw the straight tube and outer jacket, thus both passages are subject to the cooling chamber. Also on one end there is a "catch" trough for condensate flowing downward to divert to the coil. Obviously it is ball and socket. Swiss made and seems kinda older, tho no chips or cracks or perm staining. Anyone know what this is called?

...nice universal size comparison object you got there.  I know everyone here has their copy of Mozart handy, right...?

and that appears to be a condensor; I forget the name of them though.  Those are some huge joints on that too; do you have glassware that size or do you want to hock it on eb*y?

All paths are the same: they lead nowhere

O.k. look I recorded Yoko Ono over the Mozart, and I used a cassette because I am boycotting soda/alum cans. (a site I visit uses coke cans to relate size of items in thier photos)

No not really, The case was handy, and Mozart was/is "BIG" in classical music terms, yet he was small in stature. What that has to do with this reply is beyond me BUT ANYWAY! I am only curious as to what the name of the unit is. I have ball and socket to 24/40 adapters, so the unit can be put to service. I guess it can be seen as anal but I hate to keep refering to a piece as "that ball & socket fucking thingy" Not that knowing the name of the piece will change how the earth turns...

ARGHHHHHhhh, What is the damn thing called?!?!?!?!?

And I thought...

...that was a book.  Kind of glad now that I so vaguely worded the above passage.  A cassette tape is slightly more universal than a book, and that means this object is significantly smaller than I had previously envisioned...

It is a "ball jointed, barrel-shaped, reflux apparatus."

Isn't that obvious?

long ago they had a recording medium called "TAPE"
That is a strip of magnetic tape that was contained on small reels inside of a plastic case. The cases were put into a "Tape Player" alot like VIDEO tapes. The tapes then revealed their content, usually music in nature.

Thanx poohbearium, I was going NUTS! 8)

Is a video tape to an audio tape like how a DVD is to a CD?  ;)
