How much NaOH would be needed to basify this reduction
MdP2Oxime 2275gms
35l Ethanol
683gms AL
2gal AA
-
The reaction goes like:
CH3COOH + NaOH -> CH3COONa + H2O
The molecular weight of NaOH is 40g/mol and of acetic acid 91g/mol (its density is 1.05).
Now you easily can calculate how much you need to neutralize the solution, as the other reactants affect the pH very little.

NaOh=3340gms

And then some more if you want to basify rather than just neutralize. But that math is more complicated, so after adding the above amount, use pH paper to determine how much more you need to add to reach the desired pH.

I'm sure i could have figured it out my self. Thank you any way. It is nice to have a second brain. That's gonna be a nice one,hugh.
