Microwave Eugenol Demethylation?

Here is a novel method for cleaving methoxy groups from aromatic compounds, using methanesulfonic acid and a microwave oven. The reaction time is approximately one minute.

 Very promising... the unknown polar compound that shows up and increases on extended nuking.. would have to be dealt with. Interesting that it has highest conversion at 35 Watts!
