Title: Li Al Reduction
Post by: Benjamin_Gabriel on May 19, 2003, 01:33:00 AM
This is a crazy idea that might not work.  When looking at the methods for creating LiAlH4 I decided that I didn't like them much at all.

An idea hit me.  In the redction of MDP2NP to MDA could a person just add Li and amalgamated aluminum to perform the redction and not have to go through the trouble to synthesizing LAH?

It does not work like that. LiAlH4 can only be made from LiH and etheral AlCl3 outside of an industrial setting.
