Jesus has a chance to pick one up for a song. Would this effectively contain odors from gassing amines w/ HCl or from organic synthesis?
-
may be of use for some small applications (due to the usually low suction volume of the fans) but only for a limited amount of time as HCl fumes and solvents would eat away at the fan and kill it....

jesus, when gassing, always place a hydroxide saturated solution inline with the output. This will help alleviate some of the unreacted Hcl gas into a safe salt. aka, Hcl + Naoh = NaCl + H2O. (i think.) either way, it makes salt, which is harmless.

Some soldering units are just a pipe attached to a soldering iron, some are large scale ventillation units. What is it?

will this not give the mother of a suckback?
-
hypo is right, the suckback will be huge unless managed, you would have to make sure there was +ve pressure in the gassing vessel to maintain forward flow then when you finish gassing maintain pressure with air flow and remove bubbler otherwise your hard work to create the salt will be rooted by the suckback of base.... oh oh....
