Hydrolysation of Ketal
« on: September 18, 2003, 11:15:00 PM »
P has had quite a few O2 wacker failures. On P's one vacuum pump, saf distills at 125 C or so, and the yellow "ketone" resulting from the wacker distills at 132C,when it should much higher.P was wondering he wasn't hydrolysing long enough.P has basically dumped in the water and shook a bit,not thinking it may need more time. And TFSE seems to give P no consensus on this.
And is CuCl/CuCl2 really necessary for the benzo wacker?.P ran the MM protocol last night without any Cu, and the suspected ketone is distilling at 168C;to be aminated soon.Any ideas? Thanks for any little clues...P
