You need Netscape AND a Mac OS :

You are using an unsupported browser.

Your browser is reporting: Mozilla/4.0 (TuringOS; Turing Machine; 0.0)

This website requires Netscape 4.5 through 4.73 on MacOS, because earlier and later versions contain bugs which prevent proper operation of the site. Before you can use the Organic Syntheses Website, you must download and install Netscape 4.73 (scroll down if you don't see the section labelled "Macintosh") as well as the ChemDraw Plugin. For additional important installation instructions, please read the System Requirements.

What the fuck do I suddenly have a TuringOS and a Turing Machine ?????
I have a Windows ME machine and OS! Lately I got messages from Norton that my bootsector was changed. Do I have to get worried? LT/

The site is working for me with WNT 4.0 SP 4 and IE 5.0. I did have to download the chem structure plugin. I have a Windows ME machine due to arrive this week and will test the site with this ASAP.

Labtop-
I would be worried, but I worry about everything. ;)
Could your access problem be due to a proxy server?  (I used one that spit out bogus OS+browser info)

I just tried the site with Windows ME and IE 5.5. Works fine. I had to download the chemdraw plugin, install it and then restart the computer.

WINDOWS USERS

Windows 95, 98, Me, XP, 2000 or NT are required. The OrgSyn web site requires one of two plugins for use. The plugin you need will depend on your web browser. Please note that the combination of Internet Explorer 5.0 or later with Windows 95 is not recommended, as many, but not all, users of such systems have reported instability with the ChemDraw Plugin.

Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 or greater:

These browsers require the latest version of the plugin. Microsoft has dropped support for Netscape compatible plugins, so ActiveX controls are now required, which the latest plugins now install. You can obtain the latest plugin from the CHEMSTORE. The latest PRO plugin is also available as part of ChemOffice Ultra or Pro and ChemDraw Ultra or Pro. The latest Pro plugin is not a free upgrade unless you have a current Premier Maintenance agreement with CambridgeSoft.

If you do not want to purchase the latest plugin at this time, you can use the latest free NET version.

IE 4.0 - 5.5 SP1:

These browsers require either the 6.0.3 or latest plugin. If you have a valid serial number and registration code for a 6.0 Pro plugin, you can download and install the 6.0.3 PRO PLUGIN . Please note that you will be prompted to enter your serial number and registration code during the installation of this update.

Otherwise, the latest Pro plugin is available for purchase from the CHEMSTORE . It is also available as part of ChemOffice Ultra or Pro and ChemDraw Ultra or Pro.

If you are not eligible for the 6.0.3 Pro plugin or do not wish to purchase the latest Pro plugin at this time, you can use the latest free NET PLUGIN .
