In the book "recreational drugs", the author mentions heating lysergic acid up under high vacuum to 145 degrees for a couple hours to dry it. From what I'm to understand heat is the enemy, so shouldn't this process take a heavy toll ?
Title: Usually it's not heat but oxygen + heat.

Usually it's not heat but oxygen + heat. Under high vacuum there is no oxygen and no (or way less) oxidative degradation.
