The reference for lsd from d-lysergic acid. In dwelling on this syn. the trifluoroacetic acid anhydride raises my following question.

A sample of the anhydride I've seen was a yellowish liquid, probably degraded by water to TFA acid. I am leary to use it strait up.

How does one prepare trifuoroacetic anhydride? I have'nt found a synth yet, Im hoping it involves useing trifuoroacetic acid, which is bountyful.

Any body know anything ???

Take trifluoroacetic acid, react it with SOCl2 to form trifluoroacetyl chloride, and then react that with trifluoroacetic acid to form trifluoroacetic acid anhydride and HCl gas.

Yuo can use the general method from my page which uses the same method to form ordinary acetic anhydride.
