A very powerful brominating solution can be prepared by adding 20 ml (60g) of bromine to a solution of 80g potassium bromide dissolved in 500 ml of distilled water.
Caution very dangerous reagent to skin. Treat burns by washing immediately with a large amount of water. Then soak in 10% sodium thiosulfate solution or cover area with a wet sodium thiosulfate dressing for at least 3 hrs.
