a simple yield question
« on: May 30, 2003, 08:04:00 PM »
if SWIM followed osium/brightstars method for reductive amination what would be the loss if extracted after 3.5 hours rather than 4.5 hours, it seems that the reaction was mostly done after the 2 hour mark and SWIM was getting about 23g total yield from ~25g MDp2p after 4.5 hours at 3.5 would the loss be more the ~1g?

No way to know, that would depend on how you run the reaction.  Additon speed, temp, ect.

The theoretical 100% yeild would bee around 27 grams from 25 grams MDP2P so your yeild is about 85%.  That sounds pretty good, I wouldn't worry.  Is the 1 extra hour of rxn time that valuable to you?

unfortuantly yes it is, SWIM will test when time permits in the mean time the last reaction yeilded 25.76g I'd say very good, minimal losses and an almost perfect yeild ran 5 hours even

Ain't it fun running reactions at night and hurrying to finish before anyone shows up to the lab in the morning?  ;D

Why does it smell like rootbeer in here?   ;)
