Ther are clear crystals in the bottom of some Aldrich .  Does this require purificaton before use.  If so how is that done???  ALso HOw would unreacted aloquits of this be removed from a finished rxn. can it be washed out or will it come off with vaccume.  If so what can it be bubbled through to detoxify it before it hits the vacuum.

DIC crystallizes over time if you leave the bottle undisturbed for a long time. You can distill out DIC at I believe 107°C.

Quench the reaction with acetic acid if you want to convert all of the DIC to DIU, which is not soluble in DCM, and you product can be washed out.
