Title: homebrew tryptophol?
Post by: urushibara on May 16, 2003, 11:45:00 AM
I was trawling through older posts and came across a lot of information suggesting that tryptophol can be made by adding tryptophan to a brewing yeast vat, and that it yields very well, close to theoretical (so to speak)

Can anyone relate more information about this process? It seems to me to be a synthesis is a very elegant way to make dmt

a minor (probably utfse worthy) is about dimethylamine synthesis. I understand that DMF can be oxidised with HCl to make it, what are other ways? DMF is a bit sus, so it would be good if there were other synths that can produce dimethylamine.
