Extraction method for d-amp from Dexedrine tablets
« on: May 12, 2004, 10:53:00 AM »
This is a method I worked out for getting most of the good stuff from Dexedrine talets. I'm not sure if it would work, so any suggestions would be appreciated:

Ingredients: calcium sulfate, FD&C Yellow No. 5 (tartrazine), FD&C Yellow No. 6, gelatin, lactose, mineral oil, starch, stearic acid, sucrose, talc

calcium sulfate (slightly soluble in H20)
tartrazine (soluble in H2O, sparingly soluble in ethanol)
FD&C Yellow No. 6 (soluble in water/ethanol/propylene/glycol)
gelatin (?)
lactose (?)
mineral oil (insoluble in H2O)
starch (?)
stearic acid (?)
sucrose (insoluble in ethanol/acetone, soluble in H2O)
talc (insoluble in H2O)

100 Dexedrine IR tablets are crushed thoroughly with a mortar/pestle yielding 30g of yellow/orange powder. The power is dissolved in 50mL of hot EtOH with stirring. The mixture is cooled/filtered and the ethanol is evaporated. The resulting powder is dissolved in a small amount of cold dH2O, filtered and evaporated. Finally, the remaining powder is washed with cold acetone and removed from the filter.
