Did you remove the red coating on the pills?
If not next time use two seperate heavy duty squirt bottles.
One filled with near freezing tap water and the other with acetone.
Put pills in kitchen strainer. Have two separate bowls to hold the strainer over. One for water, one for acetone. Gigantic 2 liter measuring cups are good for this.
Start squirting pills with cold water (finely focused thin spray, not a mist!) and shake the pills around while squirting. The red will come off really easy. At the first sign of any foaming alternate to acetone and continue squirting and shaking the pills until most of the red is gone and the pills are a light pink color.
Soemtimes you need to really nail the area of the pill that has the ID numbers really hard to get the color out of there but don't get too anal about it either. Leaving a little red behind is OK.
Immediately dry the pills with a blow dryer and shake them around while blow drying.
Don't grind them up until they are thoroughly dry or you can easily clog up the pill grinder.
If they don't dry really quickly then you waited too long to make the swithch from water to acetone. The water should ideally not touch the surface of the white portion of the pill but for a few seconds is OK. But it needs to bee rinsed out of there pronto or you'll end up with a foamy mess that won't dry fast at all.
Don't grind them up if you are doing a tyvek/alc exctraction.
