figuring w/vol %?
« on: December 23, 2002, 11:18:00 PM »
How would a bee figure the molar amount of a HCl solution if the given amount is 37% w/vol?  And another thing, does anybody have the density of a 35% formaldehyde solution?

It is seductive, way too seductive.             -Eleusis

Hmm, 37% w/vol to me implies: 0.37 g HCl/ml of soln

If 0.37 g HCl = 0.37 g/36.46 g/mol = 0.0101 mols HCl

then the molar conc. of the soln is: 0.0101 mols/ml
