whats up with the pseudo?
« on: October 01, 2004, 04:18:00 PM »
swim was doin an A/B extraction on pseudo tabs.there was 5.76 grams of pseudo available.
first the red was taken off then the pills where dissolved in water and filtred to get a clear liquid(100mls)
swim then added sodium carbonate to base the liquid(1 gram for every gram of pseudo)
300 mls of white spirit was used as the non polar.the first 2 pulls gave around 1 gram each after titrating the nonpolar with HCl.
the next pull didnt work though instead of pinwheels like the first 2 pulls, the product left was a waxy white goo
(note the nonpolar was reused each time)
any help?

Most water based extraction methods invoke water soluble foilants. This isn't really new. I started using the waterless a/b years back, long before I posted it as a technique, for that very reason.

IN addition, the variation in formulation between pills have pretty much done in the concept of simple or universal extraction methods. The polymers in the mix these days are designed to foil a/b methods, to impede the reaction, and to foil alcohol extraction.

Read Fester's Deconstructionist thread; Prepuce and EvilScripter have a work-in-progress method on short path distillation; a few other methods specific to certain pills work. If a method is older than four or five months, it likely doesn't work as advertised anymore.
