Title: distilling sassafrass
Post by: Sinistar on January 30, 2002, 09:48:00 PM
SWIM was fortunate enough to have a sassafras source "fall into her lap". She took the risk and it came good to go.
So now SWIM needs to distill to obtain pure safrole except swim doesn't have a vacuum. SWIM wonders if the posts that say "atmospheric pressure is Ok to distill under" are telling the truth. SWIM's oil is beautifully rich in safrole, and doesn't want to screw this step up by burning it under high temps. Can this happen?

One day I'll understand everything !
