Palladium Chloride/Nickle Interactions - Help!

Akkk!  the spatula I thought was stainless steel turned out to be Nickle! (Of course in retrospect NO metal should have been used!) As I was stirring a mix of HCL/Pd/Cl to dissolve the PdCl a black bubbling mass appeared on the spatuala.. I immediately pulled it out.. but it "ate" the finish on the spatula.

  So... is my Pd/Cl hosed for a Pd/BaSO4 prep? or is this recoverable?  Any advice appreciated.. ( Maybe I have a nickle/Pd Cat?)

Stainless steel is basically an alloy of nickel and iron.
Nickel is in general more "stainless" than stainless steel, which is why that spatula is nickel.

What probably happened.

PdCl -> Pd
Ni -> NiCl2

You should never stir solutions with such a spatula, thats what glass stirring rods are for.  Those spatulas are made for weighing out DRY chemicals and nothing else.

I know it was one of those "REALLY DUMB" mistakes..  :)
  Oh well..time for recycling..
