Melatonin extraction

Does any one have experience with this?  What is the best way to go about this?

I was thinking just an solvent extraction with filtering would be good enough.

Just curious...  I have no intent of ever breaking the law.  Any indication otherwise is merely accidental.

Someone told me to "do a shot of something water soluble" or something like that..
melatonin seems to be just that. a little heat (or maybe heet)and follow the standard A/B i would guess.. anyone ever take melatonin for sleep? great dreams.. seriously.

Ethanol is a very selective solvent for this material.

I was wondering Drone,

My references imply that decarboxylation of an amide can take place with just plain old NaOH and water (lye for those less literate).  How long would you surmiss that I heat the amide/NaOH mixture? 

(even though this is way off the subject)...

On a purely chem-hack perspective, could someone partially reduce para-chlorobenzene to chlorobenzene?  That way everything for the enolate P2P production would be OTC.

Just looking to bring everything OTC and win this war on drugs...

With the demise of DMTWorld & with it drone's scheme for deacetylating melatonin, could somebody maybe repost it?
Mel., NaOH, was the solvent ethylene glycol?  Stoichiometrics, reflux time...?
