Title: Nitric Oxide
Post by: potisgood on February 02, 2002, 09:03:00 PM
Does any one know what occurs when nitric oxide (NO) is bubbled into a strong aqueous NaOH solution?  Whenever I do this, hardly no gas escapes from the basic solution, meaning it must all react.

NO reacts with water according to chemfinder.

Real men cook naked.

Reacts with water to produce corrosive nitric acid and
nitrous acid. -

It should produce aqueous sodium nitrite.
