Title: alcohols from paraffines
Post by: noche on December 30, 2002, 10:00:00 PM
How is paraffines oxidized into theire cooresponding alcohols? Fx octane --> octanol.

Higher alcohols can be used used to make aliquat.

I know that there is a lot of ways but I read a breef about a catalyzed liquid phase oxidation using FeCl3 and free oxygen. H2O2 was also mentioned somwhere if remembe correct.
