Benzothiophene analogs

I found two articles in the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry on benzothiophene analogs of tryptamines.  They mention that the N-H in the indole ring in tryptamines aren't important in receptor binding.  They also give a synthesis of the dimethyltryptamine analog (S in place of N-H in the indole ring) from the tryptamine analog using formaldehyde and formic acid
