Birch reaction has Pink color ?!
« on: August 03, 2004, 01:33:00 PM »
SWIM's done dozens of birch's and lately swim has observered while adding the Li a vibrant light red color forming on the walls of my container. Now the only thing different swim can say he's doing differently than before is no pyrex , instead a 1 soda pop plastic container. Also the pills contain that lactose crap now, which swim tends to think is whats doing it. Anyone else ever find this ocurring ?? Makes it hard to determine what the hells happening inside...
And oh ya...swim grabbed the turpentine can by mistake as it's identical to the acetone can and did a real dilligent turp wash on the final gear  ::) , tried about 4 tone washes but that smell and after taste is still there ....another a/b or leave it out in the sun maybe :P .

Did you wash the efed or sudo well? If not that could be the prob with the color. And really in this reaction its not too important. It will clean up nicely. SWIM has just thrown in the plain white pills after grinding them with almost perfect yields. But if the acetone didnt remove the smell then yes redo the a/b. And yes SWIM knows that SWIM was a bad boy to not clean his sudo
