Title: OTC tetra in oz
Post by: snoozer on December 02, 2003, 01:55:00 AM
You bees from OZ may be interested in a product swim found while browsing the shelves at the local lawnmower repair shop.
It comes in a brown and black 400g aerosol can and is titled simply "brake cleaner" the brandname is M----tech. Just check the back of the can above the barcode and if it says "contains perchloroethylene" you obviously have the right one. Be careful though as swim has seen the exact same product WITHOUT the perchloroethylene (a.k.a. tetra)which is due no doubt to the policy of moving to less environmentally and health hazardous chemicals  :( . Swim was sure this product wasn't available in OTC form in Oz as it is mainly stateside bees mentioning it in electronics cleaner etc. Hope this helps!

Actually brake parets cleaners are a well known good source stateside for tetrachloroethylene. Im sure any auto parts store in OZ would have it too in one brand or another.

is used in oz as a cleaner in the dry cleaning industry. Swibn has found various dry cleaning suppliers that sell straight  tetrachloroethylene. Five litres will set you back around $30au.
